... in Germany.
Around 150 businessportraits on 6 shooting days (incuding group portraits). The client required creative and diversified images - and all that pretty spontaneously. Well, we had to change our plans within days and the job put the word stress onto our timetable for weeks. Therefore other projects, such as our website and some stockshootings had to be postponed. We produced around 4.500 pictures - that had to get sorted too - thank god the retouching was done by another company. Using lenses with a large aperture, such as our new Canon 85mm f1.2 II L requires to take several more images during a shooting if you shoot at f 2 or below and want tack sharp eyes on portrait. If the focus is 1cm off, you can´t use the image anymore. Don´t expect any camera to focus 100% correct. That said you sure understand why there are sooo many images.
So if you need photographers who portrait your huge workforce professionally, creative and fast - we are now pretty exerienced - and we have the endurance to shoot, shoot, shoot - without an effect on quality.

...with a delay of one and a half months!
The last few weeks have been very very busy, and therefore our blog suffered quite a lot. I´m pretty sure you blogreaders out there are waiting eager for news. We´ll start with the second part of the long overhaul wedding shooting.
A great side effect of that shooting was that we have been asked to take part at a vernissage in the biggest bridal shop in Austria - hänsel & gretel - a 150x100cm canvas image will be presened right in the showroom of the modern house in Upper Austria. That should be great advertising for our wedding services.

...and no time for writing blogposts!
August is a very busy season. A wedding each weekend and even some more inbetween. There are a lot of blogposts to come, you guessed it. At the moment we sit in the car driving to the next wedding location tomorrow - the only time we can afford to write blogposts. Thanks to mobile internet. The plan was to keep the blog up to date, but I hope the thousands of blog readers out there will apologize a delay.
Strangely enough we get a lot of requests very late. The most extreme one was just a day before the wedding - no question we were already booked. Therefore our tip: think about booking your wedding photographer way in advance. There are days where we could shoot 5 weddings a day, and our collegues too are booked, so we can´t even refer you to one of them.
The image of the day is from a rainy wedding. You see: you don´t really need the sun to get some nice images. As it looks today, we will have rain tomorrow too. We´ll have a look at the locations when we arrive - We´re pretty sure there are nice places to shoot during rain. And if not - why not trash the dress on the wedding day - hahaha.

Wedding shooting with two bridal couples...
...even if you only see one on this shot.
To show all couples out there who are looking for wedding photographers what is possible in a wedding shooting, we asked friends of us to model for a special session. The goal was to showcase the perfect wedding shots that can be achieved when you as a couple give us as photographers a little more time than 30 minutes and plan that time accordingly.
Very often we get just very little time for the shots of the couple at a wedding between church and dinner. Depending on the location you need around one hour for the shooting. Depending on the weather we work with quite a lot of equipment so we as photographers need 30-40 minutes to prepare the shooting. If you want to get the best possible shots, we suggest you plan one hour for the shooting. Before and after that you best schedule events that don´t urgently ask for a photographer. Otherwise it will always be a compromise between best quality and available time.

To see the scenery...
Is pretty important. So use your imagination. Very often it´s just everyday objects you pass by without even thinking that give you dramatic images.
When we had the job to shoot old buildings here in Vienna we would have never thought that such dramatic doorfronts would exist anymore.
Of course you need to give the images a final retouch in post production. Therefore you have to use your imagination to see the final image before it´s even shot. The Hitchcock-Style door was rather dull when we shot it, but we already expected it to look just like that

Perfect location, perfect models, perfect light
When shooting video, the right location is equally important as the right models and great lighting. "Luckily" we have been able to provide all three at a businessvideoshooting last Sunday. So we took the chance to gather quite an amount of new footage.
Doing videos is a lot more difficult than shooting images.
Not every model is a good actor.
You have to supply good lighting for a very long time. Just think how much power you get out of a professional flash unit within a fraction of a second. You have to find other ways to make light, otherwise it would mean that you need the power of a whole town to shoot some sequences.
You can´t just shoot a few frames to be sure one is OK.
Post production takes much longer and is more difficult - you don´t have no raw data, you know?
The mass of data is just enormous and so you need a good computer to process all the data.

Wedding in Castle Laxenburg |

...Empress Sisi´s summer residence
A beautiful wedding on a wonderful location. I don´t think there are a lot of locations equally suited for a wedding like Castle Laxenburg near Vienna. In former times it was a place where you could meet the emperors mainly during summer. Usually emperors don´t go to ugly places, you know ;-).
The picturesque main square is a perfect scenery for the gratulation after the christian ceremony in church. Afterwards it is just a short walk in a loose and happy crowd to the palace, the perfect place for holding your festively decorated table and the wedding shooting right behind the terrace in the evening sun in the castle´s park.
We as photographers love our job even more when shooting at these locations, it´s just breathtaking. You can find more images of this shooting at our Wedding Gallery.

Successful Manager

Hardly anything gets closer to the ideal type of a successful businessman than a sporty young basketball player who is just about to score. If he wears a businesssuit while slamdunking it gets very close to perfection. Well - at least in our heads
It wasn´t all that easy to find the right type - especially here in Austria where basketball isn´t that popular. But finally we found Christian, a former basketball player who did a great job and even assisted us in getting the right shot.
Dramatic flashlights and slight motion blur on arm and ball make the scene even more realistic. Let´s see if the buyers of our stock agencies think about it as we do ;-).
BTW: Christian will be the first model in our model database we are currently working on. If you want to be presented there with professional pictures of yourself, look at our model section to get info on how you can gather experience especially as a newcomer to the business.
