...and tie.
It was great fun. Our friend Frederic, the french (known from a previous blogpost) needed a portrait for his diving website www.fredericboch.com
What shall we say - if he needs boring images, he can get them somewhere else, so let´s get creative.
Shirt and tie - yeah, that´s it. He was sweating like a horse - but even more so from laughing ;-).

not a lot of changes...
...stop - there is one. Wolfgang caught the curse of the Pharaos. Taking extreme care with food intake didn´t help a lot. While it wasn´t all that bad, it still prevented him from diving. 3x Egypt, 3x Curse - Thanks, that´s enough!
Fishsoup became more dense in the meantime, so Birgit was able to get some footage for the database.

Or: where on earth are all the fish?
Or: where on earth are all the fish?
We chose between Fiji, Wakatobi and Egypt. Why Egypt? Because it´s so close, and we spent two weeks before in the Seychelles anyway. But not everything that´s close is good.
7 dives in the highly praised red sea, but no material that´s really useable on our sensors – exept perhaps of a cheeky red lion fish. Quite a disappointment so far. We would have expected much better visibility and fish soup. Corals all the way, but despite the big efforts to save the reef – where have the fish gone? Well, perhaps it´s going to get better in the upcomming dives.
Freddy – friend, travelcompanion, underwater photographer and dive instructor on the maldives (www.fredericboch.com) also lacks the big shots. So at least we know that we haven´t forgotten how to shoot underwater images. A lot of money for nothing? Let´s see...

Unfortunately not!
Because we continuously face problems with the physical mass of our handluggage during flights, we thought: cool, let´s just buy one of these mininotebooks (Netbooks). It should be sufficient for having a first look at the images - usually we don´t have enough time for retouching on our journeys, so... It was bought even faster than it was written on the list.
HP Compaq Mini 701 EG
First of all it had to play the role of a photomodel. Such a beautiful Netbook without any dust or scratches - we will definitely need it some day. But the Screen had to be evenly lit, no reflections of anything but a white area. So we had to bild a tent of light - well in fact it became a lighthouse. But I guess it was worth it.
OK, after the shootout we installed photoshop and have been surprised how well it worked - great, let´s use it on our trip to the Seychelles. Hmmmm - being there we found out that Adobe Lightroom almost crashes the Netbook. So it won´t see Egypt and has to stay at home next time.

and a lot of work!
OK, back in the office. It was nice, as reported, but the weather hasn´t always been perfect. Nevertheless we now have to wade through 3.000 images and 200 videos, retouch, keyword and upload them. There will hardly be enough time, because in two weeks we are leaving again towards Egypt – gathering underwater material. We have to inaugurate our new underwater housing. Inbetween there is a wedding to cover and the fitness trainer of lok moscow want´s to get onto some pictuers too. Luckily he is on home leave too, so we don´t have to go to moscow ;-).

Without seasickness
We have to admit that we have been sweating quite a bit, could have easily happened to get get sick (never tried that before).
But Captain Sal was just great and took caution that the food stayed where it supposed to. Also quite a lot of motives for photography. Bird island, waterski, diving, liveaboard, beaches,…
So we guess you´ll see images on the website of silhouettes cruises soon.
